Unique Benefits of CA
  • Most EAP programs provide either psychotherapy sessions or substance abuse programs.
    • Counseling Associates provides both psychotherapy sessions and substance abuse programs.
    • The sessions in your plan can be a combination of both psychotherapy and substance abuse.

What is an EAP Plan?
  • EAP stands for Employee Assistance Program.
  • This is a program, paid for by the company, that proactively provides their employees’ families assistance to live a better quality of life.
    • The program includes both free psychotherapy sessions and substance abuse programs.

Access to EAP
  • The sessions provided for in the EAP is not only for each employee, but the total number of sessions may also be used by immediate employee family members.
    • Example:  Joe Smith (Employee) During 1 year
      • Joe has 2 sessions
      • Joe’s wife and son have 4 joint sessions.
      • Total of 6 sessions = Free for family (Depending on EAP plan chosen)

Referrals To EAP
  • No matter what type of referral is made, all information is kept confidential to the full extent of the law.
  • Self-Referral:  Employee calls and sets up an appointment for employee or a family member.
    • Totally confidential access to help.

Types of Referrals
  • Suggested Referral:  Employer refers employee to Counseling Associates, but it is up to the employee to go.
    • This might happen if a supervisor notices that something is affecting the job performance of an employee and attempts to be proactive.
    • The employer will never know if the employee goes or not unless the employee signs a release.

Types of Referrals
  • Mandated Referral:  A condition of continued employment is obtaining counseling at Counseling Associates.
    • Employer calls before employee and informs CA of referral.
    • When employee calls, CA calls the employer to simply let them know the appointment has been made.
    • Everything done in session is confidential unless the employee voluntarily signs a waiver.

Types of EAP Services

    • Counseling Associates is unique in their ability to provide the Delmarva area all of these services under one roof.

Referral Service
  • During the first 3 sessions of psychotherapy a multi-axial, DSM=IV diagnosis of the person(s) involved will be done, as appropriate.
    • CA will offer referrals to what we believe are the providers of the best and most appropriate care for the situation.
    • We will give the client as much information on his/her treatment options, so the client can make an informed decision on his/her treatment path and the costs involved.

Psychotherapy
  • All sessions are fully confidential to the full extent of the law.
  • CA is available 24/7 for emergency assistance.
    • Even if a client is out of the area he or she can call us toll free!

Substance Abuse
  • Counseling Associates provides substance abuse therapy through its Gateway Behavioral Health Division.  Included with EAPs are:
    • Intensive Outpatient Group
    • Traditional Outpatient Group
    • Individual Counseling

EAP Plan
  • Each employee has up a certain number of free sessions of either psychotherapy or substance abuse.
    • This does not provide for substance testing.
    • This is for the employee’s entire family.
  • CA provides instruction for supervisors on how to identify and refer employees to CA.
  • CA provides up to one on-site counseling help in case of company emergency.

  • Help the entire employee’s family.
    • The number of sessions are for the family, not just the employee.
    • Often it is a crisis in the family that takes time away from work and decreases productivity.
  • Helps the supervisors.
    • We help train the supervisors to identify employees who need additional help.

  • Report quarterly on the number of visits by employees.
    • CA does not tell the employer who visited, just the total number of visits.
  • Provide professional, local, caring, and confidential counseling services.

  • The EAP contract can either be paid for on a monthly* or quarterly basis.
